Environment

San Franciscans need to aggressively pursue reducing our carbon footprint.  We should promote conservation and greening wherever applicable within our city limits.  Examples of this include reducing our energy consumption, promoting public and alternative transportation (bicycles), and greening our public spaces.

Because the 2.4 million Bay Area water customers are facing a lower than average year of water supply from the Hetch Hetchy water system, we need to encourage water rationing and pressure the SFPUC to explore innovative ways to convey the message.

San Francisco is a city blessed with natural beauty.  The San Francisco Bay is a sensitive body of water that needs to be protected from invasive species and environmental accidents, such as the oil spill from the Cosco Busan.   In conjunction with the GGNRA, the National Park Service, and local organizations, we must prevent accidents from seriously harming the shoreline and the ecosystem.  We also must prevent human encroachment on native plant species and prevent the erosion of local hillsides.
